Job summary

Unique School Solutions is supporting a large SEND school in Rotherham to recruit a SEND teacher for a maternity cover from November 2026. The role involves planning, delivering and assessing bespoke schemes of work for students aged 5–19 with ASD and PDA, while leading a team of teaching assistants on 1:1 or 2:1 support.

The school is Ofsted rated Good, with a supportive leadership team. You will join a dedicated consultancy and work within a professional, well-organised environment during term

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or adults with Special Educational Needs, preferably ASD.
• PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Ability to plan and deliver bespoke schemes of work across a range of age groups.
• Personal care experience is beneficial.
• Good level of physical fitness.
• Ability to lead a group of teaching assistants.
• Patience, empathy and resilience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess bespoke schemes of work for students aged 5–19 with ASD and PDA.
• Manage a large team of teaching assistants working 1:1 or 2:1.
• Deliver high-quality teaching during maternity cover and contribute to assessments.

Rotherham

£175.00 - £241.00 per day (+SEND allowance)

Start date: 2nd November 2026

Contract type: Maternity cover

Working hours: Monday - Friday, term time only, 35.5 hours a week

Unique School Solutions are supporting a large SEND school in Rotherham, who support students aged 5-19 with Autism (ASD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). They are needing a SEND teacher to cover a maternity leave from November 2026, for a year. You will be expected to plan, deliver and assess bespoke schemes of work to meet the needs of the students, whilst managing a large team of teaching assistants who will be working with the students on either a 1:1 or 2:1 basis.

Essential requirements for the role:

• Previous experience of working with children or adults with Special Educational Needs, preferably ASD
