Supply Heroes are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive Primary School in Sparkhill, Birmingham (B11), rated Good by Ofsted.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and learning needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities.
  • Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
  • Implementing EHCP targets and individual support strategies.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant.
  • Have experience supporting children with additional needs.
  • Be patient, caring and supportive.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be confident working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups.
  • Be adaptable and able to use their own initiative.
  • Have a genuine passion for helping children succeed.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
