Job summary

Teaching Personnel seeks a SEND Support Practitioner to assist in specialist SEND schools across South Manchester. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, deliver personalised learning activities, and help create a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

This role offers varied placements across specialist settings with ongoing support from a dedicated SEN consultant. Ideal candidates have experience in schools or related care settings, a nurturing approach, and a genuine passion for

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people in schools, care or support settings.
• Knowledge of SEND (autism, complex needs, communication profiles) is a plus.
• A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional and sometimes complex needs.
• Full-time availability (Mon–Fri, 08:30–15:30 preferred).
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

About the Role

You will be working in specialist SEND schools, supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including:

• Autism (ASC) and communication needs
• PMLD and complex learning difficulties
• Sensory processing needs
• Physical disabilities and medical needs
• Social, emotional, and developmental needs

Your Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
• Assist in delivering personalised learning activities
• Support pupils with communication, engagement, and independence
• Help maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
• Support pupils with personal care where required
