Job summary

Aspire People is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils across specialist and mainstream schools in Manchester. You will work 1:1 and in small groups with children who have additional needs, helping them access learning with personalised strategies.

The role involves supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, and communication needs, collaborating with teachers and SENCOs, and applying safeguarding and positive behaviour approaches in a calm, patient, and resilient manner.

Qualifications

• Professional experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience in a specialist SEND school or specialist provision.
• Strong 1:1 support experience.
• Understanding safeguarding and positive behaviour strategies.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1:1 and small-group support.
• Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, communication needs and learning difficulties.
• Working with pupils who require personalised learning and support strategies.
• Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and social development.
• Assisting pupils to access learning and develop independence.
• Implementing individual support plans and strategies.
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams.
• Supporting personal care where required.

Aspire People are recruiting experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils across specialist and mainstream schools. We are looking for candidates who have professional experience working with children and young people with additional needs and understand the importance of individualised support.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has previously worked within a specialist SEND school, resource provision, or a mainstream setting supporting pupils with complex needs.

The Role:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, communication needs and learning difficulties
• Working with pupils who require personalised learning and support strategies
• Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and social development
• Assisting pupils to access learning and develop independence
• Implementing individual support plans and strategies

The Ideal Candidate:

• Professional experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Previous experience within a specialist SEND school or specialist provision
• Strong 1:1 support experience
• Confident supporting pupils with complex or additional needs
• Understanding of safeguarding and positive behaviour strategies
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
