Job summary

Abingdon and Witney College in Abingdon is expanding its SEND support team and seeks energetic, enthusiastic individuals with excellent communication skills to join our inclusive, student-focused environment. As a SEND Support Assistant, you will provide 1:1 support, assist in group sessions, and offer pastoral help to help students thrive socially and emotionally.

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with SEND in an educational or care setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing student needs.
Positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality in an educational context.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support to students with SEND needs, both in and outside the classroom.
Assist in facilitating group workshop activities and classroom learning.
Offer pastoral support to help students thrive socially and emotionally.
Adapt support strategies to meet individual student needs.
Collaborate with teaching staff and the wider support team to ensure a consistent and effective learning experience.
Promote independence and confidence in learners through tailored support.
