Job summary

River Academy seeks a Teaching Assistant to support students with individual learning needs, SEND and behaviour to engage in learning and progress toward targets. The role covers targeted interventions across Cognition and Learning, Communication and Interaction, and SEHM, with 1:1 and small-group work.

You will log interventions, work with the SEN Team, and contribute to a calm, inclusive and safe school environment within Maiden Erlegh Trust’s framework.

Qualifications

• Holds an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in English and mathematics.
• Can use questioning to support student understanding and participation.
• Understands the role of a teaching assistant in supporting SEND and learning barriers.

Responsibilities

• Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support students with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Support individuals and small groups to understand instructions and engage in learning.
• Lead or support small intervention groups and prepare resources.
• Log and track interventions using Provision Map and online programmes.
