Job summary

River Academy in Reading is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support students with individual learning, SEND and behavioural needs, delivering targeted interventions and tracking progress 1:1 and in small groups.

You will work with the SEN team to support learning, reinforce routines, and help create a calm, inclusive environment aligned with River Way. The role also involves collaboration with teachers, parents, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Holds an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in English and maths.
• Ability to use questioning to support student understanding, engagement and participation in learning.
• Can observe, assess and recognise student progress and support tasks within set timescales.
• Understands SEND and barriers to learning and how targeted support helps learners.

Responsibilities

• Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in line with Trust policies.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support students with SEND or additional learning needs.
• Support individuals and small groups to follow instructions and engage in learning activities.
• Lead or support small intervention groups, preparing resources and materials.
• Support students during homework clubs, subject support sessions and examinations as directed.
• Log and review interventions using Provision Map and online programmes.
