Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in Chelmsford, Essex, seeks a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with a range of needs. The role involves 1:1 and small-group assistance, promoting learning, communication, and wellbeing in a safe classroom, with collaboration from teachers and therapists.

The ideal candidate has SEND experience, patience, strong teamwork, and a genuine passion for helping children with ASC, SLD, PMLD and complex medical needs.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND education, healthcare, care homes or residential settings.
• Patient, caring and understanding approach.
• Confident supporting pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour.
• Willingness to assist with personal care where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Support pupils with their learning, communication, social development and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist with personal care and physical needs where required.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management strategies.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Adapt activities to meet individual pupils' needs and abilities.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning.
