Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is recruiting a SEND Learning Support Assistant for a welcoming Chelmsford school that supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. The role involves providing support throughout the school day, five days a week, in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

You will work closely with teachers and SEND professionals to deliver tailored activities, support learning and foster wellbeing for pupils with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEND or special educational needs, ideally within education, care or support work.
• Patient, caring and resilient approach to supporting pupils.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils with learning, communication and engagement.
• Assist the class teacher with differentiated activities.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour when required.
• Follow individual support plans and strategies.
• Create a calm, positive and safe learning environment.
• Work closely with teachers, SEND professionals and staff.
• Support pupils with personal care where needed.
