Job summary

SENDhelp is recruiting an experienced 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant to support a child joining Reception at a welcoming primary school in Haslemere, Surrey. You will provide consistent individual support throughout the school day, with a September 2026 start.

The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with an hourly rate of GBP14.25–GBP20, and a focus on Positive Touch, de-escalation and emotional regulation.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEND and 1:1 support.
• Trained in Positive Touch and restraint/intervention.
• Understanding de-escalation and positive behaviour support.
• Calm, patient, resilient and nurturing.
• Support emotional regulation and transitions.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to child in Reception.
• Help child settle into school and access learning.

We are looking for a confident and nurturing 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant with strong SEND experience who can provide consistent individual support throughout the school day. The successful 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant will:

• Have previous SEND and 1:1 experience
• Be trained and experienced in Positive Touch and physical restraint/intervention
• Understand de-escalation and positive behaviour support
• Be calm, patient, resilient and nurturing
• Confidently support emotional regulation, transitions and challenging behaviour
• Work effectively alongside teachers, SENDCo and other professionals

As a 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant in Haslemere, Surrey, you will help the child settle into Reception, access learning, develop independence and build positive relationships.
