Job summary

SENDhelp is recruiting an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant for a primary school in Morden. The role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs, which may include autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory needs and behaviour that may challenge.

You may work one-to-one with an individual pupil, support a small group or assist the wider classroom team. Applicants must have experience within a UK school and a calm, patient, reliable approach.

Qualifications

  • Direct experience supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Confidence supporting primary-aged pupils.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to travel reliably to Morden.
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach.
  • Experience within a UK school is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with relevant experience from another formal education, childcare, care or support setting may also be considered.
  • Experience supporting autism, ADHD, non-verbal pupils, sensory needs or challenging behaviour would be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with SEN in lessons and structured activities
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support
  • Helping pupils with communication, emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Using visual aids, sensory strategies and adapted resources
  • Following EHCP targets and individual support plans
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and social development
  • Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff
  • Supporting personal care where required
  • Maintaining a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

Salary: GBP14.24 - GBP16.5 per hour

Location: Morden
Pay: £14.24-£16.50 per hour, PAYE
Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Setting: Primary school
Age range: Reception to Year 6

Supporting pupils with SEN in lessons and structured activities

Providing one-to-one and small-group support

Helping pupils with communication, emotional regulation and behaviour

Using visual aids, sensory strategies and adapted resources
