Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND teaching assistant to support primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs in Bristol. You will work with pupils across KS1 and KS2, using Team Teach strategies to manage challenging situations and promote emotional wellbeing.

Starting January 2027, this full-time role offers £14.25–£16.50 per hour with PAYE payments and access to CPD courses through My-Progression. Join a dedicated team and help children build confidence and resilience.

Qualifications

• Team Teach qualification is required.

• Patience, calmness and understanding approach.

What will you be doing?

As a SEND learning support assistant, you'll work with pupils across KS1 and KS2, providing the encouragement, structure and individual support they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs

Providing one-to-one and small-group learning support

Using Team Teach strategies to help pupils manage challenging situations safely

Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence

Building trusting relationships with pupils who may find school challenging

Supporting teachers in creating a calm, structured and inclusive classroom

Celebrating progress in learning, behaviour and personal development

Who are we looking for?

We'd love to hear from you if you:

Hold a Team Teach qualification

Have experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH needs

Are confident using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques

Have a patient, calm and understanding approach

Enjoy working with primary-aged children across KS1 and KS2

Can build positive relationships with pupils and school staff

Are available full-time from January 2027
