Job summary

GSL Education seeks a dedicated SEND Learning Mentor to support pupils with special educational needs in Canterbury, Kent. This long-term, full-time role offers daily pay around £95+ depending on experience and the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will provide tailored support to pupils with SEND, helping them develop literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills while promoting independence and confidence in learning.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND in educational settings.
• Ability to deliver one-to-one and small-group support.
• Patience, empathy and strong communication skills.
• Commitment to helping pupils progress academically and socially.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support to SEND pupils.
• Develop literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage positive learning behaviours and resilience.
• Build trusting relationships to boost confidence and engagement.
• Support pupils facing barriers to learning or emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to track progress.
• Monitor engagement and share observations with the team.
