Job summary

GSL Education Kent is recruiting a SEND Learning Mentor to support pupils at a specialist school in Ashford. The role involves providing targeted academic, social and emotional support to students with additional needs, working alongside teachers and support staff to promote positive learning behaviours.

The successful candidate will have experience with SEND, be patient and resilient, and be committed to safeguarding. A DBS check will be required and enhanced background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEND in school or mentoring setting.
• Ability to provide individual and small-group support.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and DBS checks.
• Willingness to develop SEND-related skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised guidance and support to pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils' communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Encourage positive learning behaviours and resilience.
• Build trust with pupils, teachers and professionals.
