£20.17 per hour | 37 hours per week | Full Time | Ongoing Opportunity

We are recruiting for a dedicated and proactive SEND Intervention Assistant to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) through targeted, evidence-informed interventions that promote academic progress, independence and emotional wellbeing. The role sits within the Learning Services team and focuses on supporting learners who may be at risk of underachievement or disengagement, helping them to achieve positive outcomes and reach their full potential.

The Role

Working closely with curriculum teams, lecturers, personal tutors and support staff, you will:

• Identify students with EHCPs who require targeted intervention based on individual need, progress data and feedback.
• Plan and deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions linked to EHCP outcomes.
• Support learners in areas including academic skills, emotional regulation, social communication and engagement.
• Monitor, record and evaluate the impact of interventions against agreed outcomes.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews and support planning processes.
• Use attendance, attainment and engagement data to inform intervention planning and identify emerging needs.
• Work closely with teaching staff to embed support strategies within classroom environments.
• Provide in-class support where required to promote participation, independence and achievement.
• Contribute to the development of resources, reports and online support materials where appropriate.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally possess all of the following experience, skills and qualifications:

Essentially sought:

• Experience supporting learners with SEND within an educational or support setting.
• Experience delivering effective one-to-one and small-group interventions.
• Experience maintaining accurate records and contributing to support planning and review processes.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues and external professionals.
• Ability to organise and deliver structured interventions that meet individual learner needs.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while using initiative appropriately.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience, in education, SEND, health and social care, youth work or a related discipline.
• GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above, or equivalent qualifications.
• An understanding of emotional wellbeing, social and emotional literacy, or mental health support.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Understanding of safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities within an educational environment.

Working Pattern

• 37 hours per week
• Full-time position
• Flexibility may occasionally be required to support events, activities, evenings or weekends.

Contract Information

• £20.17 total hourly rate
• Role reviewed on a half-termly basis
• There is a strong possibility of the assignment continuing long term for the right candidate
