Job summary

SENse Learning is seeking Intervention Tutors to provide one-to-one support for SEND learners, delivering bespoke, trauma-informed tutoring across KS1–KS5 and a range of needs.

You can work in-person, online, or hybrid with flexible hours, competitive pay (£35–£45 per hour), and a supportive team; interviews are arranged as applications are received.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience with SEND, SEMH, or related needs in a trauma-informed approach.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS) is required.
• UK-based with the right to work in the UK; Enhanced DBS and references typically required.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with children and young people with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Provide in-person, online/remote, and hybrid tutoring and mentoring tailored to individual needs.
• Plan lessons and report progress; offer regular feedback on student development.
• Deliver flexible, trauma-informed tutoring aligned to EHCPs and risk assessments.

Our Intervention Tutor roles allow you to provide one-to-one support for the most in-need young people, working across specialisms as a SEND Tutor, Specialist Teacher, and SEND Teacher! You will play a vital role in supporting students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education, including behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties to achieve their education goals.

Delivering 1-1, creative and interest-led sessions of learning while promoting positive attitudes to learning, and helping build the skills and confidence students need to progress academically and personally.

Intervention Tutor Role Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years of post-NQT teaching experience, ideally working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or PMLD in a holistic and trauma-informed way
• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS)
• Approach: Understanding of how to work in a child-centred, holistic way; you will have the ingenuity and creativity to make the curriculum work in an individual, student-centred way.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can facilitate this if needed) and 2+ professional references
• Location: You must be based in the UK with the right to work in the UK, even for remote/online jobs
• Safeguarding: Knowledge of safeguarding and creating a safe learning environment.

The Intervention Tutor Role And Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with children and young people who have a range of needs and who have often experienced significant difficulties in previous education settings.
• Provide in person, online/remote, and hybrid support to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other Additional Educational Needs
• Support pupils and students, ranging from KS1 – KS5 (as appropriate for your skills), referred by local authorities and schools by planning and delivering flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring tailored to the young person’s needs, EHCP, and risk assessment
• Plan and report for lessons and provide regular feedback on student progress
