Job summary

Protocol in Birmingham is seeking an Enthusiastic Employability & Enrichment Assistant to support students with EHCPs in enrichment activities and employability development. The role blends student support, enrichment coordination and progression planning, with a focus on confidence and independence.

The post is 30 hours per week (advertised as 4 full days) on a £20.17 hourly rate, with on‑site duties and occasional trips.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people or learners with SEND or EHCPs.
• Experience monitoring, recording and tracking student participation, progress and outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families and external organisations.
• Experience supporting the development of confidence, independence, social communication or employability skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver activities meeting a range of learner needs.

• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in education, youth work, SEND, health and social care, careers guidance or related field.

• Accompany students on trips, visits and work-related learning activities.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive Employability & Enrichment Assistant to support students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in accessing enrichment activities and developing the skills, confidence and independence needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships, further study or supported internships. Based on the role profile the post combines student support, employability development and enrichment coordination.

The Role

Working as part of the Learning Services team, you will:

• Support students with EHCPs to participate fully in enrichment activities both on and off site.
• Encourage the development of confidence, independence, social communication and employability skills.
• Assist students with CV writing, job applications, interview preparation and progression planning.

• Maintain accurate records of student engagement, progress and outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum staff, support teams and external partners to promote inclusive opportunities.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have all of the following experience, skills and qualifications:

Essentially sought:

• Experience supporting young people or learners with SEND, additional needs or EHCPs.
• Experience monitoring, recording and tracking student participation, progress and outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, families and external organisations.
• Experience supporting the development of confidence, independence, social communication or employability skills.
• Ability to plan and deliver activities that meet a range of learner needs.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record-keeping systems.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• A relevant Level 3 qualification, or equivalent experience, in education, youth work, SEND, health and social care, careers guidance or a related field.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Understanding of safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities within education.

Working Pattern

• 30 hours per week
• Advertised as 4 full days per week
• Occasional flexibility may be required for trips, activities, evenings or weekend events.

Contract Information

• £20.17 total hourly rate
• The role will be reviewed on a half-termly basis
• There is potential for the position to continue long term for the right candidate; however, this cannot be guaranteed.
