Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is hiring an English Teacher to work within a specialist SEND setting in Towcester, Northamptonshire. You will deliver English and Functional Skills lessons to pupils with diverse needs, aiming to improve literacy, reading, writing and communication skills while supporting individual learning goals.

The role requires experience with SEND, ability to differentiate instruction, and a calm, patient teaching style.

Qualifications

• QTS or an appropriate teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English, Functional Skills English or literacy.
• Previous experience working with SEND / SEN pupils.
• The ability to differentiate and personalise learning.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• A calm, patient and adaptable teaching style.
• Experience within a special school, SEND provision, SEMH setting or alternative provision would be advantageous.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Teaching English and Functional Skills English to pupils with SEND
• Delivering lessons across different abilities and levels
• Supporting pupils working towards Functional Skills English qualifications
• Developing literacy, reading, writing and communication skills
• Adapting lesson plans and resources to suit individual learning needs
• Working towards pupils' EHCP outcomes and individual targets
• Creating an encouraging, structured and inclusive classroom
• Monitoring attainment and recording pupil progress
• Providing constructive feedback and appropriate intervention
• Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff
• Supporting pupils' wider personal, social and emotional development
• Following safeguarding, behaviour and school procedures
