Job summary

Luma Education Recruitment is partnering with an exceptional specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon, to recruit SEND Tutors across Maths, English and Functional Skills. You will deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual needs and support pupils with SEND and additional needs in a nurturing environment.

Roles are permanent, offering life skills integration, progress monitoring and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. DBS update service is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring within a SEND or specialist education setting.
• Strong knowledge of Maths, English or Functional Skills.
• Patient, adaptable and creative approach to teaching.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

SEND Teacher / Functional Skills Tutor - Maths & English

Luma Education Recruitment is working with an exceptional specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon, with multiple permanent opportunities available for passionate and experienced SEND Tutors.

Positions are available across Maths, English and Functional Skills, supporting young people with SEND and additional needs within a highly supportive and rewarding environment.

The setting takes a personalised approach to education, combining academic learning with life skills training, independence and practical support, helping pupils develop the skills they need for their next steps.

The Role

• Deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to individual needs
• Support pupils with SEND, autism, learning difficulties and additional needs
• Teach Maths, English or Functional Skills depending on your specialism
• Incorporate life skills and preparation for adulthood into learning
• Monitor progress and adapt teaching to individual learners
• Work closely with support staff and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Build positive relationships and encourage pupil confidence and independence

What We're Looking For

• Experience teaching or tutoring within a SEND or specialist education setting
• Strong knowledge of Maths, English or Functional Skills
• A relevant teaching/tutoring qualification is desirable
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs
• Patient, adaptable and creative approach to teaching
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
