SEND Education Mentor — One-to-One Support

Job summary

SENse Learning is seeking passionate Education Mentors to provide one-to-one mentoring and learning support to SEND learners in Bournemouth, at home or in community settings. You will work as a self-employed mentor, delivering bespoke, trauma-informed sessions that build confidence, life skills and independence while working with families and schools to tailor sessions to each young person’s needs.

Roles are ongoing, with flexible hours and competitive pay of £18–£23 per hour, and interviews

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience working with children or young people with complex additional needs.
• Background in roles such as Support Worker, LSA/TA, Youth Worker, or related education/care fields.
• Understanding of child-centered, holistic approaches; ability to adapt curriculum to individual learners.
• Enhanced DBS and 2+ professional references; safeguarding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong, positive relationships with children and young people who may have faced challenges in education.
• Provide one-to-one support in homes and community settings with creative activities.
• Support development of life skills, confidence, and independence; use trauma-informed approaches.
• Provide feedback to track progress and adapt support as needed.
