Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEND Cover Supervisor to join a specialist school in Bury, Manchester. The role can be full-time or part-time, with duties including delivering pre-set work across subjects and maintaining a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

You will work closely with SEN teachers and support staff to ensure learners feel safe, engaged and understood, and you will support pupils with EHCPs, autism, or complex needs while upholding school policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND or specialist school settings.
• HLTA qualification preferred.
• Able to manage a classroom and support EHCPs.
• Calm, adaptable approach with strong behaviour management.
• Understanding of autism, complex needs, or physical disabilities.
• Passion for inclusive education and promoting independence.

Job Title: SEND Cover Supervisor

Area: Bury, Manchester

Start Date: Monday 14th September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time

Salary: Competitive £130-£180 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the role:

This role involves delivering pre-set work across a range of subjects, maintaining a calm and inclusive learning environment, and managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies. You'll work closely with SEN teachers and support staff to ensure learners feel safe, engaged, and understood.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience working in SEND or specialist school settings
• HLTA qualification preferred and prioritised
• Confidence in managing a classroom and supporting students with EHCPs
• A calm, adaptable approach with strong behaviour management skills
• An understanding of supporting pupils with autism, complex needs, or physical disabilities
• A passion for inclusive education and promoting student independence

To be eligible you must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references
