Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Oldham, Greater Manchester. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, with a full-time, permanent contract and a weekly salary of 525–600 GBP dependent on experience and responsibilities.

You will work with pupils with EHCPs to access the curriculum, support teachers, and help develop emotional regulation and positive routines across the day.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.
  • Nurturing and patient approach with a passion for SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs and additional needs.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, behaviour support, and tailored interventions.
  • Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive routines throughout the school day.
  • Contribute to progress tracking and communicate regularly with the wider support team.

About the role:

What We're Looking For:
  • Ideally - experience supporting children with SEND (in a school or care setting)
  • Someone with a nurturing and patient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility and resilience to meet the varying needs of pupils
  • Strong understanding of Autism and SEND
  • What would set you apart - relevant TA qualification
To be eligible you must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
