Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a warm SEND primary school in Bury. You will support pupils with a wide range of needs, including ASD and significant communication challenges, across Early Years to Key Stage 2.

The role involves 1:1 and small group support to help pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work closely with teachers, contribute to behaviour support, and help create a nurturing environment where every child can reach

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively.
  • A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with EHCPs and additional needs
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery, behaviour support, and tailored interventions
  • Promote emotional regulation, independence, and positive routines throughout the school day
  • Contribute to progress tracking and communicate regularly with the wider support team

Job Title: SEND TA

Area: Bury, Manchester

Start Date: Monday 21st September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time

Salary: £525 - £700 per week (depending on experience)

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

About the school:

We are working with a warm and inclusive SEND primary school in Bury looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), profound and multiple learning difficulties, and significant communication challenges.

This full-time role involves working closely with children across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will play a vital role in building positive, supportive relationships, providing one-to-one and small group support, and contributing to a nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to engage creatively with children are essential, as your work will make a meaningful impact on their learning and personal development.

About the role as a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:

What We're Looking For from a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant:
  • Experience supporting children with SEND (in a school or care setting)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively
  • A calm, compassionate, and proactive approach
  • Strong understanding of Autism and SEND
  • A relevant TA qualification
To be eligible you must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
