Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a confident SEND Behaviour Mentor to work across schools and specialist settings in Oldham. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who need additional behavioural or emotional support, building positive relationships and acting as a calm, reliable role model.

This role focuses on emotional regulation, social development and helping pupils access learning with structured routines. A patient, resilient approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, emotional or additional needs.
• Experience in a school, youth work, mentoring, residential care or similar setting is beneficial.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confidence managing challenging situations professionally.
• Ability to encourage positive choices while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Genuine interest in supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and development.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils needing behavioural or emotional support.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Support emotional regulation, confidence and social development.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement.
• Help pupils manage challenging situations with calm communication and de-escalation.
• Support pupils to access learning and develop positive routines.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams to follow individual plans.
• Maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
