Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Learning Mentor to support Secondary aged pupils 11-16 with SEMH needs in a South Liverpool school. The role suits new or experienced educators to become a familiar face in a school where staffing, culture and community matter.

You will build relationships, model positive behaviours, provide emotional and academic support, and collaborate with teachers, therapists and families to promote progress and wellbeing, with flexible hours and a safe, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working with children or young people.
  • Calm, confident presence and strong behaviour management.
  • Ability to be a consistent role model and advocate for vulnerable learners.
  • Team player with a flexible, solution-focused approach.
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with pupils aged 11-16, offering emotional and academic support.
  • Model positive behaviours and attitudes, setting clear boundaries and expectations.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs through tailored interventions and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to promote progress and wellbeing.
  • Help pupils re-engage with learning and prepare for transitions back to mainstream or specialist settings.
