Senploy is seeking a part-time 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a pupil with additional needs in a Didcot-area primary school. You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to tailor strategies and build the pupil’s confidence and independence.
The role focuses on breaking tasks into manageable steps, using visual or multisensory resources, and targeted interventions while monitoring progress and recording outcomes. Previous SEND experience is highly valued.
One pupil. Consistent support. The chance to really understand what works.
There's a particular skill to good 1:1 support.
It's not about sitting beside a child all day or doing things for them. It's about getting to know how they learn, recognising when they need help and gradually giving them the confidence and skills to do more for themselves.
A primary school in the Didcot area is looking for a part-time 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support for a pupil with additional needs.
Consistency is important in this role.
You'll take time to understand the pupil's strengths, areas of difficulty, communication style and individual learning needs.
Working with the class teacher and SENCO, you'll follow agreed strategies while adapting your approach according to how the pupil responds.
That could mean breaking a classroom activity into smaller steps, using visual or multisensory resources, delivering a targeted intervention or helping the pupil manage a difficult transition during the school day.
At other times, the most useful thing you can do may be to step back.
The aim isn't to create dependence on 1:1 support - it's to use that support to build greater confidence and independence.
Previous experience supporting children with SEND would be particularly useful, ideally within a primary school or similar environment.
You may already be an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a part-time position, or perhaps your background is in another child-focused role where you've provided individualised support.
Relevant education or SEND qualifications would be beneficial, although practical experience and your ability to work effectively with the pupil are equally important.
An understanding of the SEND Code of Practice, positive behaviour support and different approaches to learning would also be valuable.
This position offers a daily rate of £85-£110, depending on experience and qualifications.
You’ll join a supportive primary team and work closely with experienced teaching and SEND professionals, with opportunities to continue developing your specialist knowledge.
If you're specifically looking for part-time work around Didcot and enjoy the individual nature of 1:1 SEND support, this could be an excellent fit.
