Job summary

Step Teachers in London are seeking a dedicated SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role at a thriving primary school for pupils aged 5-11. Immediate start available.

You will provide one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND, help access learning, and work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement tailored strategies. The role also focuses on supporting the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development.

Qualifications

• Previous SEND experience is essential.
• Experience supporting children with SEND (ASD/ADHD etc.) desirable.
• Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND.

Duties as a SEND 121 Teaching Assistant:

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with SEND
• Help the pupil access learning and engage positively in classroom activities
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement support strategies
• Support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

Ideal SEND 121 Teaching Assistant:

• Essential: Previous SEND experience
• Experience supporting children with additional learning needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not required
• Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
