TeacherActive is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Brierley Hill, Dudley, to recruit an experienced SENCO for a full-time, short-term placement commencing between November and December 2026. The role leads SEND provision across the school, oversees EHCPs and annual reviews, and works with the SLT and SEMH Unit to support pupils with complex needs.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• A recognised SENCO qualification (NASENCO or NPQ for SENCOs).
• Alternatively, a relevant SLT or leadership qualification alongside substantial SENCO experience, subject to statutory qualification requirements.
• Previous experience working as a SENCO within a primary school or similar educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory SEND responsibilities.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND and complex behavioural needs.
• Experience managing EHCPs, annual reviews and SEND interventions.
• Confidence working alongside Senior Leadership Teams and external professionals.
• Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.
• The ability to adapt quickly and make an immediate positive contribution.
• Availability for full-time temporary agency work.

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the primary school.
• Support the effective running and development of the school's SEMH provision.
• Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews and individual support plans.
• Work closely with teaching staff, support staff and the SEMH Unit team.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behavioural challenges and additional learning needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and evaluate SEND interventions.
• Provide guidance to teachers regarding adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom strategies.
• Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities and external agencies.
• Ensure SEND documentation and statutory processes are maintained.
• Contribute to SLT discussions and whole-school SEND development.
• Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding and inclusive practice throughout the school.
