Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is partnering with a welcoming primary school in Brierley Hill, Dudley, to recruit an experienced SENCO for a full-time, short-term placement commencing between November and December 2026. The school provides an SEMH Unit to support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs.

The successful candidate will oversee SEND provision, EHCPs and reviews, collaborate with SLT, and drive inclusive practice across KS1-2.

Qualifications

• QTS in the UK is required.
• SENCO qualification NASENCO or NPQ preferred.
• Alternative: leadership qualification with substantial SENCO experience.
• Previous SENCO experience in a primary setting is essential.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and responsibilities.
• Experience supporting SEMH, SEND and complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the primary school.
• Develop and monitor SEMH provision and SEMH Unit support.
• Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews and individual plans.
• Work with teaching staff and the SEMH Unit team.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and learning needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and evaluate SEND interventions.
• Liaise with parents, carers, authorities and external agencies.
• Ensure SEND documentation and statutory processes are maintained.
• Contribute to SLT discussions and whole-school SEND development.
• Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding and inclusive practice.
