Job summary

St. Michael’s Church of England Primary School in Walsall is seeking a SENCO or aspiring SENCO for a permanent post from January 2027. The role combines teaching with around 50% non‑class‑based time and includes a seat on the Senior Management Team.

You will lead SEND policy development, coordinate interventions, oversee EHCP processes, and train staff. A collaborative approach with parents and professionals is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as SENCO or willingness to undertake NPQ for SENCOs.
• Ability to support and promote a Christian ethos within the school.
• Commitment to working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development of the school's SEND policy and provision.
• Manage day‑to‑day operation of the SEND policy and provision.
• Coordinate targeted interventions and monitor impact using data.
• Oversee EHCP applications, statutory reviews, and annual reviews.
• Provide professional guidance and staff training on adaptive teaching.
• Build partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
