Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting a dedicated SENDCO for a welcoming Redditch school. You will lead and develop the SEND provision, working with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

This permanent role requires QTS and SENDCO leadership experience, plus a strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. The school offers a supportive leadership team, ongoing professional development and a clear path to permanent employment.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will lead and develop the school's SEND provision, working collaboratively with staff, parents, governors and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

The Role

As SENDCO, you will:

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision.
  • Identify, assess and monitor pupils with additional needs.
  • Develop and implement effective SEND strategies and interventions.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure high-quality inclusive practice.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals.
  • Ensure the school meets all statutory SEND responsibilities.
  • Support and develop colleagues through advice, guidance and training.

We're keen to hear from professionals who have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working as a SENDCO or within a SEND leadership role.
  • The National Award for SEN Coordination (or a willingness to complete it where appropriate).
  • Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
