Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is partnering with a welcoming Redditch school to recruit an experienced SENDCO for a permanent position starting September. The successful candidate will lead the school's SEND provision, working with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

The role requires QTS, SENDCO experience and the National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete).

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience as SENDCO or SEND leadership role.
  • National Award for SEN Coordination or willingness to complete it.
  • Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Genuine passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision.
  • Identify, assess and monitor pupils with additional needs.
  • Develop and implement effective SEND strategies and interventions.
  • Work with teaching staff to ensure high-quality inclusive practice.
  • Liaise with parents, local authorities and external professionals.
  • Ensure the school meets statutory SEND responsibilities and develop staff through training.

Smile Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and forward-thinking school in Redditch to recruit a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCO). The successful candidate will lead and develop the school's SEND provision, working collaboratively with staff, parents, governors and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

The Role
  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision
  • Identify, assess and monitor pupils with additional needs
  • Develop and implement effective SEND strategies and interventions
  • Work closely with teaching staff to ensure high-quality inclusive practice
  • Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals
  • Ensure the school meets all statutory SEND responsibilities
  • Support and develop colleagues through advice, guidance and training
What We're Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience working as a SENDCO or within a SEND leadership role.
  • The National Award for SEN Coordination (or a willingness to complete it where appropriate).
  • Excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with additional needs.
