Job summary

Acre Rigg Infant School in Peterlee invites applications for an experienced SENCO with senior leadership background. The post runs four days a week (three days non-contact, one day teaching) and requires commitment to safeguarding and supporting pupils with SEN or disabilities.

The Governors seek a committed, enthusiastic leader who can develop SEN policy, operate day-to-day SEN provision, and provide guidance to staff, parents and external partners.

Job description

SENCO- 4 days per week - 3 days non contact time, 1 day teaching.

Required to start as soon as possible.

The Governors seek to appoint a committed, experienced and enthusiastic SENCO with senior management experience.

The SENCO, under the direction of the headteacher, will:

• determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school;
• be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability;
• provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.
• The SENCO will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teacher’s Pay and Conditions Document.
