Job summary

Stockport Council invites applications for an experienced SENCO at Banks Lane Infant and Nursery School in Stockport. The post is 2.5 days (16.25 hours) per week, permanent, with MPS/UPS salary and TLR 2a.

Start 4 January 2027; deadline 11 October 2026; interview 19 October 2026. The successful candidate will join an inclusive school and work as part of a team, coaching staff, and supporting pupils with SEND.

Qualifications

• Experience as SENCO or in a leadership role supporting pupils with SEND.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Be professionally assertive and able to remain calm under pressure.
• Be proactive, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with staff, pupils, parents and governors.
• Willing to undertake National SENCO Qualification if newly appointed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of SEND strategies.
• Coach, mentor and support school staff within the SENCO remit.
• Collaborate with families, staff and governors to raise achievement.
• Work within an inclusive school to support pupils with SEND.
