Job summary

Teaching Personnel’s TP Tutors in Coventry is seeking dedicated Secondary 1:1 tutors to support main­stream pupils with SEND across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Tutoring occurs in homes, schools, or community settings during school hours, with both part-time and full-time opportunities available.

Candidates should have at least two years of UK teaching or tutoring experience, a strong grasp of the national curriculum, and a relevant teaching qualification. Travel within Coventry is required.

Qualifications

  • Two years UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEND.
  • Strong knowledge of KS3 and KS4 curricula.
  • QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence or access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to each pupil's needs.
  • Plan lessons to promote academic progress, confidence and engagement.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual learning requirements.
  • Monitor pupil progress and complete session reports after each tuition session.
  • Travel to tuition locations across Coventry during school hours.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, and other professionals.

Are you an experienced teacher or tutor with a passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking dedicated Secondary 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised tuition to secondary-aged pupils across Coventry. Tuition takes place in pupils' homes, schools, alternative provisions, or community settings during school hours.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who require tailored educational provision due to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, speech and language needs, dyslexia, medical needs, or other additional learning needs. You'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve meaningful academic progress through personalised 1:1 support.

  • Encourage pupils to develop resilience, motivation, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Deliver tuition across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including GCSE preparation where appropriate.
  • A minimum of two years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum, particularly Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Experience teaching one or more core subjects (English, Maths, or Science) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, behaviour management, and relationship-building skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel reliably within Coventry.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, dyslexia, or other additional needs.
  • Experience delivering tuition within alternative provision, specialist settings, or pupils' homes.
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Experience preparing pupils for GCSE examinations or supporting learners who are working below age-related expectations.
