Job summary

GSL Education in Worksop is seeking a Teaching Assistant (SEN) to support pupils with additional needs, working closely with teachers to enable participation in lessons. The role can be one-to-one or small groups, requiring patience, resilience and strong communication to help pupils develop independence and confidence, while upholding safeguarding.

The successful candidate will have experience in school or care settings and must be eligible to work in the UK, with an enhanced DBS or willingness

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.
• Experience working in a school, care or similar supportive environment is advantageous.
• A patient, calm and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to respond flexibly to different learning and behavioural needs.
• Confidence working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
• A genuine commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.
• Adapt support to meet individual pupils' learning and communication needs.
• Encourage pupils to participate in lessons and develop independence.
• Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation where required.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and remain engaged.
• Build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff.
• Share relevant observations and feedback with teachers and the wider support team.
