Job summary

Principal Education is seeking a confident SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in an East London school. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping students engage, progress and thrive in the classroom.

You will work closely with teachers, implement behaviour strategies, support lesson planning, and foster emotional regulation and resilience. A valid enhanced DBS and two professional references are required to apply.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with pupils with SEN, including autism and complex needs.
• Patience, empathy and proactive support for diverse needs.
• Comfortable assisting with personal care when required.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and employ restorative approaches.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and behavioural needs.
• Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet individual needs.
• Foster emotional regulation, resilience and confidence in pupils.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents.
