Job summary

Principal Recruitment is seeking a confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join an East London school. You will support pupils with SEN, delivering one-to-one and small-group assistance to help them engage and progress in class.

The role involves implementing behaviour strategies, supporting personal care when needed, and collaborating with teachers to adapt lessons. A valid enhanced DBS and two references are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with pupils with SEN including Autism & Complex Needs.
• Patient, empathetic, and proactive in supporting diverse needs.
• Comfortable supporting personal care needs.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Able to remain calm under pressure and use restorative approaches.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and behavioural needs
• Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a positive learning environment
• Assist teachers in planning and adapting lessons to meet individual needs
• Foster emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence in pupils
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents
