Job summary
Prospero Teaching are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS2 to KS3 at a new specialist SEN school in Wimborne Minster. Pupils may present SEMH and Autism and require consistent, calm, structured support to re-engage with learning, build confidence and regulate emotions.
You will work closely with teachers, SEN professionals and pastoral teams. If you are resilient, empathetic and passionate about mentoring and pastoral care, this role offers meaningful impact
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour.
- Strong behaviour management skills (essential)
- SEN experience (SEMH / Autism preferred)
- Backgrounds in youth work, care, mentoring, or behaviour support welcomed
- Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)
Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
- Helping pupils re‑engage with learning following periods of disrupted education
- Implementing positive behaviour and de‑escalation strategies
- Providing pastoral care and emotional regulation support
- Acting as a positive role model and mentor
- Supporting engagement with academic and therapeutic learning activities
- Working closely with teachers, SEN professionals, and pastoral teams
