Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Hampshire. The role focuses on supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally, with close collaboration with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.

Location is Romsey with a September 2026 start, a temporary to permanent contract, full-time hours (37.5 per week) and pay from £105.00 per day.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, including SEMH.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Good English, Maths and ICT skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in lessons and around the school.
  • Deliver one‑to‑one and small group support.
  • Help remove barriers to learning and encourage engagement.
  • Promote positive behaviour, resilience and independence.
  • Support pupils’ emotional, social and academic development.

SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching are recruiting experienced and committed teaching assistants to join a specialist SEMH school in Hampshire.

Rated Outstanding by Ofsted, this nurturing and supportive setting provides tailored education for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is committed to helping every young person develop confidence, resilience, and the skills needed to succeed both in education and beyond.

As a teaching assistant you will work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.

Location: Romsey, Hampshire
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent opportunities
Hours: Full‑time, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week)
Pay Rate: From £105.00 per day

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in lessons and around the school.

To Be Considered, You Must
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply.
  • Provide two professional references, preferably child‑related.
