Job summary

Prospero Teaching are recruiting for an experienced Primary Teaching Assistant to join a SEMH-focused school in Southampton. You will support pupils academically and emotionally, helping them build confidence and resilience in a nurturing, structured environment.

The role is full-time, temp-to-perm, starting ASAP, with pay from 14.96 per hour. Prior SEMH or SEN experience is advantageous but not essential, and ongoing training is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or similar role is preferred.
• SEMH/SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Strong communication and positive behaviour management skills.
• Ability to engage pupils effectively and remain calm in challenging settings.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs within the classroom.
• Assist with learning activities, engagement, and positive behaviour strategies.
• Build positive relationships to support emotional regulation.
• Contribute to a nurturing, safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff and external agencies.
