Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support primary and secondary students in a Special School setting in Leicester. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:45am-3:15pm, term-time only, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and inclusive education.

The position offers a pathway to permanency for the right candidate. The successful applicant will have experience in SEN and a solid understanding of the National Curriculum, and will obtain an enhanced DBS if not already held.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SEN requirements including Physical Disabilities, Personal Care and Learning Difficulties.
• Experience in an Education or Support Role.
• Understanding of the National Curriculum.
• Dedicated SEND TA committed to inclusive education.
• Strong behaviour and classroom management skills.
• Supportive and respectful of school ethos.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding support in long- or short-term roles.
• Assist with SEN pupils to progress academically, socially and personally.
• Support classroom routines and behaviour management.
• Collaborate with teachers and care for student development.

To be considered for this role, you will:

• Has knowledge and understanding of the following SEN Requirements: Physical Disabilities, Personal Care, Learning Difficulties, SEMH, Autism, PDA, ADHD and Looked After Children.


• Have experience of working in an Education or Support Role


• Have an Understanding of the National Curriculum


• Be a dedicated SEND TA who can provide outstanding support either in a long- or short-term role


• Demonstrate excellent behaviour management strategies and classroom management skills.


• Be dedicated to providing an inclusive education for all students and being responsible for student development and academic performance.


• Be supportive and respectful of the school’s ethos
