A warm and welcoming primary school in the Lewes area, rated Good by Ofsted, is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within either a Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 classroom, supporting pupils with behavioural and additional learning needs to thrive both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning within the classroom, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support for children who benefit from additional behavioural and emotional guidance.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support within KS1 or KS2
  • Help pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
  • Support children to engage successfully with learning
  • Implement behaviour strategies in a calm and consistent manner
  • Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Passionate about supporting children with SEN and behavioural needs
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic in their approach
  • Able to build strong and trusting relationships with pupils
  • A positive team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experienced working with children in a school or care setting (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
