Job summary

Operam Limited is partnering with a warm, inclusive special school in the London area to provide high-quality education and care for pupils with SEN. The SEN Teaching Assistant role starts ASAP until July 2027, full-time and on-site.

You will support pupils with ASD, ADHD and other needs, work with teachers and therapists, deliver one-to-one and small group support, promote positive behaviour, and create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people with SEN in a school setting.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient with a passion for SEN education.
• Team player who follows guidance from teachers and therapists.
• Proactive, reliable and committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Hold or be willing to work towards SEN or childcare qualifications.

Job description

We are currently working with a warm, inclusive and nurturing special school that provides high-quality education and care for pupils with a range of special educational needs. The school is committed to helping every child achieve their full potential in a supportive and well-structured environment throughout Primary and Secondary age.

They are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and support pupils across the school. This position starts ASAP until July 2027 on a full-time basis.

The school caters for children with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs, so having experience within a similar position is very desirable.

About the role:

• Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs
• Working closely with class teachers and the wider support team to deliver tailored learning and care
• Providing one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access the curriculum
• Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence
• Creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

The ideal candidate:

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or transferable experience welcomed)
• Is patient, empathetic and resilient, with a genuine passion for SEN education
• Can work effectively as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers and therapists
• Is proactive, reliable and committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• Holds (or is willing to work towards) relevant SEN or childcare qualifications
