Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant in Leatherhead to support pupils with additional needs on a long-term basis, starting immediately. The role focuses on one-to-one and small-group support, delivering EHCP targets and adapting activities to help pupils access the curriculum while maintaining a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEN, education, care or support setting.
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• The ability to adapt to the individual needs of pupils and remain calm in challenging situations.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities within an educational setting.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider school team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, responding to their individual learning and emotional needs.
• Helping pupils access the curriculum by adapting activities and providing additional support where required.
• Working alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons and implement EHCP targets and support strategies.
• Promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages confidence, independence and personal development.
