Job summary

Create Education is recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant in Croydon. The role is permanent with a salary of £22,000–£25,800 per year, depending on experience. Start date is immediate, joining a specialist school supporting pupils with ASD and SEMH in a structured, nurturing environment.

The ideal candidate has SEN/ASD/SEMH experience, resilience, and a strong commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to learning. A calm, proactive approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ASD or SEMH.
• Patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and positive manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
• Support pupils with ASD and SEMH needs both inside and outside the classroom.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support individual learning and development.
• Help create a calm, positive and structured learning environment.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence and independence.
• Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Assist with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks.
• Follow individual support plans and contribute to the wider pastoral approach of the school.
