Job summary

Cromwell Medical Staffing in Croydon is recruiting experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to support schools with children who have Special Educational Needs. This role offers both full-time and ad hoc opportunities in welcoming, collaborative environments, with immediate start potential.

You will provide one-to-one or small-group support, implement learning plans, promote positive behaviour, and work closely with teachers while maintaining safeguarding and child welfare standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
• Experience working with children with SEN/SEND.
• Understanding of additional learning needs and support strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, caring and supportive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
• Relevant references.
• Availability for Monday–Friday work.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with their learning and development.
• Provide one-to-one or small-group support where required.
• Assist pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs.
• Help implement individual learning and support plans.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
• Support pupils in accessing classroom activities.
• Work closely with teachers and other school staff.
• Provide appropriate emotional and pastoral support.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
• Assist with classroom activities and daily routines.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Follow school safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
