Job summary

Randstad Education in Croydon is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5-16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and other complex needs within a large inclusive SEN provision.

You will provide 1:1 and group support, assist with behaviour plans, and help track learner progress in collaboration with teachers and SENCO. Roles offer 8:30 AM–4:15 PM, with full-time or part-time options across a network of schools in the area.

Qualifications

  • Experience or strong interest in Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Patience, empathy, and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team
  • Team Teach certification is desirable (training provided)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and DBS checks

Responsibilities

Salary: £20,020 - £24,500 per annum (Depending on Experience)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:15 PM

About the Role

An award-winning special educational needs (SEN) school in Croydon is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 5-16 (Primary and Secondary). You will work alongside experienced educators to support learners with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), and non-verbal communication needs.

This large, inclusive SEN provision supports over 100 students and is renowned for its fun, safe, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • 1:1 and Group Support: Assist primary and secondary SEN students with academic tasks, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Behaviour Management: Help draft and implement individual behaviour plans (IBPs) to support safe and productive learning environments.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor and record learner progress, reporting feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside class teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver tailored educational programs.
  • Safe Learning Environment: Maintain a safe, inclusive space where neurodivergent students feel empowered to succeed.
Requirements & Skills
  • Experience or strong interest in working with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Autism (ASC), or ADHD.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary school team.
  • Team Teach certification is desirable (Free Team Teach training provided by Randstad Education).
  • Must hold valid eligibility to work in the UK and pass enhanced DBS compliance checks.
