Job summary

Protocol Education are recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support hearing-impaired pupils in a busy, inclusive school in the LS17 area. The role focuses on enabling access to learning and developing independence through supported practice.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, use British Sign Language to facilitate communication, and collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to promote pupil engagement.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting hearing-impaired pupils
  • BSL knowledge and experience is essential
  • Strong understanding of SEN support strategies
  • Patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach

Responsibilities

  • One-to-one and small group support to hearing-impaired pupils
  • Supporting access to learning across the curriculum
  • Using British Sign Language to facilitate communication
  • Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
