Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd. is seeking a Learning Support Worker with BSL skills to support a hearing-impaired pupil in a Sunderland primary school. The role focuses on effective communication and tailored support to help the pupil engage academically and socially.

You will work with teachers and the SEND team to foster an inclusive environment, building resilience and positive relationships with peers. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with weekly PAYE pay and ongoing

Qualifications

• BSL Level 1, 2, or 3 qualification.
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
• A patient, positive, and adaptable approach.
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting children.
• Someone who can build strong relationships and act as a positive role model.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 support for a hearing-impaired pupil using BSL.
• Helping the pupil access lessons, classroom discussions, and school activities.
• Working alongside teachers and the SEND team to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions with peers.
• Supporting the pupil’s communication needs throughout the school day.
